Background: There have been several studies found that the systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse pressure are important predictors and influence factors of adverse cardiovascular events, and they are affected by life style, age, gender, weight, inheritance, etc. There needs more studies about the effect of age, body mass index (BMI), gender and other factors. Objective: Study the related effect factors of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse pressure of Shanghai residents. Methods: Collect statistics of 8719 residents who had examinations in the physical examination center of Xin Hua hospital affiliated to Shanghai jiaotong university school of medicine from January 4, 2013 to May 24, 2013 and aged from 20 to 69 years old, including blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight. Using the linear correlation analysis, multiple regression model to analyze correlation between blood pressure and age, sex, body mass index (bmi) and heart rate with the R software. Results: There exists positive correlation between age and systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse pressure(P < 0.001), and the correlation coefficient of female is higher than that of male. The correlation coefficient of female’s age and systolic blood pressure increases with the rise of age.The correlation coefficients of the pulse pressure and age rise with the increasing age, both in men and women. Age is negatively related to the heart rate, and positively related to the BMI(P < 0.001).Conclusion: Systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse pressure present different changing rules in different ages, affected by sex, BMI and heart rate at the same time, but overall, was positively associated with age.
