      Objective To explore the correlation between the uncertainty of illness and the level of self efficacy in patients with diabetes, and provide data support for the development of clinical nursing interventions. Methods Investigating 105 patients with 2 type diabetes diagnosed more than 6 months and were willing to participate in from June 2014 to June 2015 in a third grade class-A hospital in Dalian, involving questionnaire including diabetes self management efficacy, Mishel Disease Uncertainty Scale. Results The diabetic patients have different degrees of uncertainty in illness (108.23±9.11), self management efficacy scores was (162.97±19.23); they were negatively correlated. Regression analysis showed that age, education level, uncertainty, unpredictable, disease uncertainty score could jointly explain the total variance of self management efficacy 47%. Conclusion The uncertainty of the disease in patients with diabetes seriously restricts the level of self efficacy of patients with diabetes.
