| Aim: To investigate the real psychological experience of lung cancer patients on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuritis symptom, and provide a scientific basis for the intervention measures for clinical nursing. Method: From November 2015 to February 2016, 12 cases with Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy were selected in a third grade class-A hospital. The phenomenological research method and semi-structured interviews were used to perform in-depth interviews. The themes of illness experiences were extracted from the interview data, using Colaizzi data analysis principle. Result: All cases had completed the interviews, and 6 themes were extracted as following: inadequacy cognition, negative emotions including depression and sadness, lack of coping methods, declining in the ability of life, social isolation, expecting more guidance and help. Conclusion: Medical staff should carefully pay attention to adverse reactions from patients with chemotherapy, and instruct the patients to recognize early and take active coping with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuritis, and provide them effective treatment method to help patients to relieve numb and pain in order to improve their quality of life. |
