| "Operation Specification for the Collection of Adult Blood Culture Specimens" (T/SHNA 0016-2025) was issued by the Shanghai Nursing Association. It was promulgated on May 12, 2025 and came into effect on June 1, 2025. Multiple hospitals participated in its drafting and are among the first batch of institutions committed to its implementation. This standard applies to medical and nursing staff engaged in collecting adult blood culture specimens in medical institutions at all levels and of all types, excluding children"s specialized hospitals. It specifies basic requirements (such as adhering to blood collection indications and hand hygiene), operational procedures (including pre-operation preparation, in-operation implementation, and post-operation disposal), occupational protection, and key points for collection under special circumstances, etc. Its purpose is to standardize operations, improve the detection rate of pathogenic bacteria and the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment, and reduce patient suffering and complications. |
